PFC: Protected Forward Communications

Program Summary

The Protected Forward Communications (PFC) Program aims to enable small unit tactical operations to persist in electronic warfare (EW) conditions by developing an integrated communication system protecting three distinct conversations from exploitation and denial. These three conversations are (1) local (ground to ground, squad level communications), (2) ground to aircraft line-of-site communications, and (3) ground to beyond line-of-site (ground to headquarters) communications. Each of these conversations presents distinct technical challenges in terms of protection against EW adversaries.

Using a systems-driven approach that addresses the communications needs of the small unit in a holistic fashion, the PFC program will leverage technology-driven research into a system to defeat the adversary EW-driven kill chain.
