About the Communications and Public Affairs Office

Our Public Affairs team is the sole point of contact for media inquiries about the agency, our programs, and our personnel. We lead all external communications and outreach, ensuring that publicly released information complies with Department of Defense and DARPA policy.

Our team works closely with media outlets and trade publications to share the scientific results and advanced capabilities that often make their way into modern life. We also share news and events via the agency’s social media channels.

  • What’s the quickest way to get information about DARPA?
    If what you need isn’t on our website or social media accounts, complete our contact form. A member of our team will respond.
     
  • Where can I find images and video about DARPA programs?
    Images and video are available on our website and social media accounts.  
     
  • Can I reprint an image from your website or social accounts?
    If the image is credited to a source other than DARPA, you need their permission to reprint. DARPA images may be used with credit to DARPA and in compliance with our  Usage Policy.
     
  • Where can I find information about DARPA research and programs?
    The best sources are our website and social media accounts. For additional information, please share your questions via our contact form. A member of our team will respond.
     
  • How do I schedule an interview?
    Agency leaders, technical office leaders, and program managers are the only official spokespeople for the Agency, our programs, and our personnel. To request an interview, complete our contact form.

    Please note that the demands of high-impact, accelerated research mean they are often unavailable for live, in-person or phone interviews – particularly on short notice. If you provide questions in advance, we may be able to coordinate a quick response.

  • What’s the best way to confirm some facts about DARPA for a story?
    Please send your request and deadline via our contact form.

    Given the busy schedules of our program managers and leaders, we request at least 48 hours for review.

  • How do I get on your mailing list?
    We do not publish an e-newsletter or send regular updates by email. The best way to keep up with our news and events is to follow us on social media.  
     
  • My organization requires written permission and/or a signed waiver to use an image. How can I get that?
    DARPA cannot sign any such releases. By publicly posting our Usage Policy, we provide permission to use our content according to the terms of that agreement.  
     
  • Can I visit DARPA’s research labs?
    DARPA doesn’t own or operate research labs. We oversee research that takes place at facilities around the country that are owned or operated by our research performers.

  • Can I visit DARPA headquarters?
    DARPA is a secure facility. We do not give public tours. Visitors should arrange an appointment with a program manager or other DARPA staff prior to visiting.
