DARPA hosts webinar to explore partially automated curation technologies to aid analysts, decision-makers
Jul 17, 2023
Knowledge curation involves acquiring information from many sources; triaging it as unimportant, contextual, or actionable; identifying factors and causal links; finding associated datasets; and developing metrics with which to measure objectives. Despite being a vital step in the decision-making process, knowledge curation is usually done by hand, which means analysts and decision-makers often miss important factors in complicated socioeconomic systems. DARPA’s Collaborative Knowledge Curation (CKC) Advanced Research Concepts (ARC) opportunity solicits ideas to explore the following question: How can we partially automate knowledge curation to help analysts and decision-makers gain and maintain awareness in complicated, interdependent systems?
The CKC effort explores how machines can help analysts and decision-makers curate knowledge faster and more thoroughly in complicated socioeconomic systems.
“Knowledge curation is often treated as an informal precursor to model-building and decision-making,” said DARPA Innovation Fellow Dr. Allegra Beal Cohen. “The goal of CKC is to formalize this process with the help of machines, so that we can understand complicated systems faster and better. At the CKC webinar, participants will learn about the domain application of economic statecraft from experts in the field as well as identify opportunities to advance the state of the art in knowledge curation.”
DARPA is sponsoring a live virtual webinar 10:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. ET Thursday, July 27, 2023 to provide information about the CKC ARC opportunity. A virtual check-in begins at 10 a.m. Registration is required for all attendees of the webinar. Registration closes Wednesday, July 26 at 12 p.m. For more details, view the CKC Webinar special notice: sam.gov/opp/c736954a8dc345e59b5253c12a891830/view.
