Roshi Rose Nilchiani, Ph.D., joined DARPA in August 2026. Her research interests are complexity, phase transitions, and emergence in engineered systems and resilient megasystems.
Prior to joining DARPA, she was a tenured professor of systems engineering for 20 years and published more than 110 peer-reviewed papers in journals and conferences in the areas of requirements engineering, design complexity, phase transition in natural and engineered systems, systems aging and obsolescence, and flexibility and resilience of engineered systems and space systems. She was the principal investigator of multiple research grants while in academia.
Nilchiani is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
