Mr. Michael Sangillo joined DARPA in February 2023 as a program manager in the Microsystems Technology Office. His objective is to enable rapid manufacturing and deployment of disruptive microsystem technologies that have immediate national security applications.
Sangillo has directed research programs across cyber electronic warfare, communication, and radar technologies sponsored by the Air Force, Army, and DARPA. Before joining DARPA, Sangillo was the founder and CEO of Spear Research, a specialized company focused on challenges in sensing and applied physics. Sangillo led his company through the acquisition and integration into Pacific Defense. Prior to his entrepreneurial work, Sangillo was a systems engineer at Raytheon and at BAE Systems, receiving patents and R&D awards for his contributions on counter-IED, counter-UAS, radar, and small form-factor RF payload programs.
Sangillo received his Master of Science (2011) and Bachelor of Science (2008) in electrical and computer engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. His undergraduate and graduate studies were focused on digital electronics and digital signal processing.
