Bethany Brown

Deputy Program Manager

Biological Technologies Office

Bethany Brown, Ph.D., joined DARPA as a deputy program manager in the Biological Technologies Office (BTO) in April 2026. She is a global leader in clinical science and innovation with more than 20 years of experience in translational science and clinical strategy for medical devices and biologics. 

In addition to joining DARPA, Brown is the Senior Director of Transfusion Innovation and Product Development at American Red Cross. In that role she partners across the Red Cross and with industry collaborators to guide and advance new technologies for the collection, processing, and testing of blood and blood components. Her work covers the full development pathway from preclinical research through clinical evaluation and regulatory licensure of products. She has significant experience leading government-funded projects and served as a principal investigator for studies supported by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority and the Department of Defense.

Previously, Brown held leadership roles at Terumo BCT, where she managed global clinical research and innovation. She also worked at Corgenix Medical Corp., where she led international clinical research and supported the World Health Organization's response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Brown has a track record of leading global regulatory submissions to the Food and Drug Administration, European Union and other international bodies.
