Mr. Bernard McShea joined DARPA in August 2021 as a program manager in the Information Innovation Office (I2O) to develop, execute, and transition programs in machine learning and cybersecurity.

Prior to joining DARPA, McShea was a senior principal research scientist with BAE Systems, where he performed and led machine learning and cybersecurity R&D. Before joining BAE Systems, he was a lead cybersecurity engineer at MITRE, where he specialized in cybersecurity tool development with a focus on machine learning, data science, and data visualization. Prior to MITRE, McShea was with a variety of U.S. government agencies and private companies.

McShea holds a master’s degree in computer science from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from Beloit College.
