Lt. Col. Alex “HEFOE” Hillman, Ph.D., U.S. Air Force, joined DARPA in May 2026 as a program manager to design, execute, and transition programs to help the warfighter succeed in the 21st century operating environment.
His research seeks to advance technologies that couple kinetic and non-kinetic effects, with an emphasis on advanced signal processing, systems and information theoretic methods, and applied computation to enable scale.
Before joining DARPA, Hillman was assigned to the Pentagon at the Department of the Air Force Integrated Capabilities Office, where he led technology integration for concept and capabilities development for the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Space Force. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, Hillman is a career system tester, most recently as the chief data officer at the U.S. Air Force Cyberspace Test Group.
