Program Summary
ITA3 will determine the practical and fundamental limits to imaging using low frequency electromagnetic waves. The focus is on ELF-VLF waves (a few Hz up to 30kHz) which are present all around us and local generation is increasingly feasible due to advances in compact antenna designs. These low frequencies penetrate buildings, ground, the sea, fog, containers, etc. and can be readily measured using today's sensitive detector technologies.
