FunCC: Fundamentals of Complex Collectives

Summary

FunCC aims to uncover fundamental principles of resilient self-organized complex systems applicable to domains spanning autonomous systems to biological networks, the immune system, and ecosystems.

The dynamics and evolution of complex collectives are explored using new frameworks that embrace agent heterogeneity, stochasticity, distributed control, and diffusion of (mis)information.

The FunCC program is developing a framework for: 1) predicting global collective behaviors based upon local interaction rules; 2) understanding fundamental tradeoffs between system accuracy, responsiveness, and resilience; and 3) building distributed control algorithms and compiling interaction rules for modulating system response and optimizing desired global behaviors and system resilience.
