Peter Willett

Dr. Peter Willett joined DARPA in August 2024 as a program manager in the Strategic Technology Office. His research interests include signal processing, detection and classification, estimation, communications, target tracking, and data fusion.
Dr. Willett is a professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Connecticut. His most-cited works include those on distributed surveillance, acoustic and multi-user communications, data fusion, and advanced tracking methods. He has had roles in the evaluation of several Department of Defense programs and has consulted extensively, focusing on underwater surveillance and on missile defense.
Dr. Willett’s degrees include a master’s degree and a doctorate in electrical engineering from Princeton University and a bachelor’s degree in engineering science from the University of Toronto. He is an IEEE Fellow for contributions to detection, target tracking, and signal processing.
