Dr. Thomas Schenkel joined DARPA in the Defenses Science Office in May 2024. His interests include radiation science, particle accelerators, quantum technologies, and concepts of information.
Schenkel joins DARPA from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he has been a senior scientist and program head in the Accelerator Technology and Applied Physics Division with a project portfolio related to qubits, beams and fusion. He received his undergraduate education in physics and philosophy at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, and his doctorate in physics from Goethe University.
