Michael Mulqueen

Tactical Technology Office

Dr. Michael Mulqueen joined DARPA in July of 2024 as a program manager in the Tactical Technology Office. His area of focus will be on defense article manufacturing and related technologies. He has a broad engineering background including work in autonomy, sensors (RADAR, LiDAR, and infrared focal plane arrays), microelectronics advanced packaging, energy, and materials.

Prior to joining DARPA, Mulqueen was chief technology officer of HRL Laboratories in Los Angeles, CA. He also served as director of programs for General Motors, a co-owner of HRL. He provided technical leadership on a number of programs and led the HRL effort to create externally funded new-start companies. This led to the creation of three new companies, one of which is now publicly traded. Prior to HRL, he was chief scientist for renewable energy at Logos Technology where he developed technology related to the production of advanced biofuels and other alternative energy concepts.

Mulqueen holds a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
