Jeffrey Zaleski

Biological Technologies Office

Dr. Jeffrey Zaleski joined DARPA in August 2024 as a program manager in the Biological Technologies Office. His research interests are in the fields of metals in medicine, bioinorganic chemistry, synthetic chemistry, and materials.

Prior to DARPA, Zaleski was a chemistry professor and vice provost for research at Indiana University. There, he taught extensively, published over 100 research papers, gave more than 90 conference presentations, and held four patents.

Zaleski earned a doctorate degree in physical-inorganic chemistry from Michigan State University; a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo; and a post-doctoral fellowship in physical-bioinorganic chemistry from Stanford University. He is an associate editor of Frontiers in Chemical Biology- Molecular Sciences and has served on numerous editorial and scientific review boards. A dedicated mentor, he has supervised over 65 undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Zaleski has received many honors, including the Bicentennial Medal and the Trustee’s Teaching Award from Indiana University.
