Lt. Col. Clark McGehee joined DARPA as a program manager in June 2024. His focus areas include the defense industrial base, manufacturing technology, next-generation design and systems engineering tools, and advanced aerospace vehicle concepts.

Before joining DARPA, McGehee served as the director of operations and chief engineer for a flight test squadron conducting technology demonstrations for the US Air Force. Previously, he led the F-35 air vehicle test team through the completion of system development and demonstration. McGehee is a flight test engineer with experience in over 40 aircraft and in working with joint partners.

McGehee earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering with a focus on nonlinear and complex systems from Duke University; a master’s of science degree in flight test engineering from the US Air Force Test Pilot School; a master’s of operational studies degree from the US Army Command and General Staff College; and a master’s of philosophy degree in military strategy from the US Air Force School of Advanced Air and Space Studies.
