DARPA occasionally stands up temporary special projects offices focused on coordinating, developing and/or deploying advanced capabilities on an accelerated time scale. These efforts fall outside of DARPA’s typical program structure and leverage the Agency’s unique organization and skill sets to make rapid progress in technology areas that are critical to national security. DARPA currently operates one special projects office: the Aerospace Projects Office (APO).

The rapid evolution of small unmanned air system (sUAS) technologies is fueling the exponential growth of the commercial drone sector, creating new asymmetric threats for warfighters. DARPA’s Mobile Force Protection (MFP) program seeks to develop an integrated system capable of defeating self-guided sUAS (i.e., those that do not rely on a radio or GPS receiver for their operation) attacking a high-value convoy on the move, and recently awarded Phase 1 agreements to start research.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Tactical Technology Office (TTO) is sponsoring a two-day Proposers Day to provide information to potential responders to the planned Program Solicitation (PS) for the Robotic Servicing of Geosynchronous Satellites (RSGS) Program. The Proposers Day will be held at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, 675 North Randolph Street, Arlington, VA 22203 on May 25-26, 2016, from 8:30AM to 4:30PM. Advance registration is required.
