What are we exploring now? (What we might fund in the future)
The DARPA Microsystems Technology Office is soliciting innovative research proposals to develop heterogeneous photonic integrated circuit platforms that incorporate on-chip optical gain for disruptive optical microsystems.
The mission of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is to identify and create the next generation of scientific discovery by pursuing high-risk, high-payoff research initiatives across a broad spectrum of science and engineering disciplines and transforming these initiatives into disruptive technologies for U.S. national security.
The goal of the TUFEN Microsystems Exploration Topic is to determine and demonstrate the range of physical conditions for ferroelectric behavior in doped nitride materials and to characterize the effects of physical dimensions, material composition, and processing conditions. Furthermore, this effort will demonstrate device functionality and reliability characterization in concert with the ferroelectric properties of these nitride materials.
