DARPA’s Biological Technologies Office (BTO) is hosting a Proposers Day to provide information to potential proposers on the objectives of the upcoming Prometheus program. The program aims to discover host prognostic biomarkers of acute respiratory infection that predict if a person will become contagious after infection, but prior to the onset of symptoms. A key aspect of the program will be to characterize human immune responses at multiple time points during infection.

DARPA’s Information Innovation Office (I2O) will host a Proposers Day on February 6, 2017, to provide information to potential proposers on the new Computational Simulation of Online Social Behavior (SocialSim) program. SocialSim will seek to develop innovative technologies for high-fidelity computational simulation of online social behavior. The program will focus specifically on information spread and evolution.

DARPA’s Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is hosting a Proposers Day to provide information to potential proposers on the objectives of the Systematizing Confidence in Open Research and Evidence (SCORE) program. SCORE aims to develop and deploy automated tools to assign "confidence scores" to different social and behavioral science (SBS) research results and claims. Confidence scores are quantitative measures that should enable a DoD consumer of SBS research to understand the degree to which a particular claim or result is likely to be reproducible or replicable. The event will be available via a live webcast for those who would like to participate remotely.
The Biochronicity program conducts fundamental research aimed at improving battlefield medical interventions and combat performance by understanding the role and effects of time in and on human physiology and biological functions. Advances in the understanding of timing in biology could particularly benefit trauma care by expanding the window of opportunity for medical treatment and surgical intervention.
Over the last 15 years, the U.S. military has increasingly been called upon to face complex operational environments (OE) and diverse enemies. Such complex OEs require the actions of U.S. forces and host-nation or coalition partners to be based on a common holistic understanding of the OE (e.g., governments, population groups, security forces, and violent non-state actors) and, in particular, the causal dynamics that can manifest as unanticipated and often counter-intuitive outcomes.
