At the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, on May 22, 2017, DARPA will host an Information and Teaming Workshop in support of the DARPA Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Bay Area Hackfest. The objective of the Bay Area Hackfest--which will be held November 13-17 at NASA Ames, Moffet Field, California—is to engage and enable a community of interested engineers and scientists working towards the future confluence of radio and information technology.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Strategic Technology Office (STO) is hosting a “STO Industry Day” event on August 7 – 8, 2019, in the DARPA Conference Center, Arlington, Virginia. The purpose of the event is to (1) familiarize attendees with STO’s vision, problem spaces, program managers (PMs), and technology interests; and (2) facilitate technical discussion between STO PMs and attendees that explore innovative and impactful solution ideas for strategic national security challenges.

The purpose of the event is to (1) familiarize attendees with STO’s vision, problem spaces, program managers (PMs), and technology interests; and (2) facilitate technical discussions between STO PMs and attendees that explore innovative and impactful solution ideas for strategic national security challenges. The event is scheduled for August 2 – 3, 2017, at the DARPA Conference Center located at 675 N. Randolph St. Arlington, VA 22203.
Information, or ‘content’, on the World Wide Web is replicated and distributed across the world to ensure high availability to the end-user. User expectations for rapid access to content have led to the creation of content distribution systems that enhance the user experience. Consequently, users may quickly access content used for everyday living, from restaurant menus and maps, to local and world news.
There is increasing interest in making broader use of the millimeter wave frequency band for communications on small mobile platforms where narrow antenna beams from small radiating apertures provide enhanced communication security. Today’s millimeter wave systems, however, are not user friendly and are designed to be platform specific, lacking interoperability and are thus reserved for only the most complex platforms.
