Mr. Jason Preisser assumed his current position as Director of Mission Services Office (MSO) in April
2020. As Director of MSO, his responsibilities extend to all aspects of the DARPA mission, including
support to research projects and operations. He oversees enterprise support operations and is
responsible for providing DARPA with innovative, risk-managed, and mission-responsive services
including security, intelligence, counterintelligence, privacy, information technology, facilities and
logistics, records management, and audit readiness. He also serves as the Agency’s Deputy Chief
Information Officer, Senior Privacy Officer, and Senior Services Manager.
Preisser began his career in the United States Air Force as an officer, where he held a variety of positions
in federal acquisition, procurement, program management, and satellite systems operations and
maintenance from 1993 to 2015. He attained the highest levels of Department of Defense acquisition
certification in Contracting and Program Management. He has broad experience in systems acquisition,
through all phases of system life cycle, and proven technical skills and knowledge of military &
Intelligence Community (IC) acquisition systems. Preisser has held Staff, Contracting Officer, and
Program Manager positions at the Pentagon, Headquarters Air Force, Air Force Space & Missile Systems
Center (SMC), and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). He also completed two tours performing
contingency contracting, host nation advisory & assistance missions in Kuwait & Afghanistan. Prior to
his current appointment, Preisser served as MSO’s Assistant Director, Program Management as well as
Acting Director, DARPA Small Business Programs Office (SBPO), where he focused on enabling the small
business community to create and transition radical, game-changing technologies.
Preisser holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University and a Master of Business
Administration from Chapman University.
