LtCol Nathan Marvel joined DARPA in 2018 as a special assistant to the director and U.S. Marine Corps operational liaison.
LtCol Marvel’s operational experience includes multiple deployments to Okinawa Japan for the Unit Deployment Program (UDP), the 13TH Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and several deployments in support of the Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). During this time, he held various billets, participated in multiple international exercises, and completed the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course.
Other tours include serving as an AH-1W instructor pilot with Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One and as a Requirements Officer for Marine Aviation Weapons Requirements Branch. LtCol Marvel commanded Marine Light Attach Helicopter Squadron 369, the “Gunfighters”, from 2015 to 2017.
He holds a Master of Science degree in National Security Strategy from The National War College, a Master of Military Studies degree from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and a Bachelor of Science in control systems engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
