Dr. Fotis Barlos joined DARPA in January 2017 as a program manager in the Strategic Technology Office (STO). Dr. Barlos' interests include data analytics, computational science, and planning technologies.
Prior to joining DARPA, Dr. Barlos was a research scientist with BAE Systems for 13 years, culminating as a technical director in the Technology Solutions division. In his role he oversaw a portfolio of programs focusing on decision support and data mining; artificial intelligence; knowledge representation and reasoning; machine learning and forecasting; uncertainty management; command and control and wargaming; and computational social science. Prior to BAE Systems, Dr. Barlos worked in the commercial sector developing data analysis technologies for consumer behavior and purchasing activities.
Dr. Barlos earned a doctorate in computer science and engineering, and a Master of Science in electrical and computer engineering from George Mason University; as well as a Bachelor of Science in computer and information sciences from the University of Patras in Greece.
