Dr. John Everett is the deputy director of DARPA's Information Innovation Office (I2O).
Dr. Everett joined DARPA in February 2014 as a program manager. Dr. Everett's research interests focus on the intersection of automation technologies with information security. He started the Cyber Fault-tolerant Attack Recovery (CFAR) program in 2014, which is researching automated software rewriting to protect legacy systems. In 2015 he started the Rapid Attack Detection, Isolation and Characterization Systems (RADICS) program to develop technologies for the early detection of and swift recovery from a nation-state cyber-enabled attack on the US power grid.
Prior to DARPA, Dr. Everett led R&D groups at Raytheon BBN Technologies, BAE Systems Advanced Information Technologies, and Xerox PARC in the areas of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Dr. Everett earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Artificial Intelligence at Northwestern University, a Master of Management degree from Northwestern University, and Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
