Space: Connecting to the Cosmos
The beeping of a transmitter from Sputnik in 1957 signaled not only the beginning of the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union, but the beginning of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
DARPA has a history in space technology that spans more than five decades. Current programs seek innovative approaches across a wide range of technologies and concepts; from new ways of thinking about the design and operation of future space systems to providing enhanced protection for our assets in-orbit.

DARPA's ground based optical system will provide an advanced and affordable space situational awareness capability. EXPLORE MORE Space Surveillance Telescope (SST)

DARPA's focus on advanced space technologies will help ensure rapid responsiveness, survivability, surveillance, situational awareness, persistence and efficiency in future space operations. EXPLORE MORE System F6, FAST

DARPA strives to reduce launch costs and develop smaller and more capable systems while providing the next generation of scientist and engineers with meaningful space experimentation projects. EXPLORE MORE InSPIRE
Paul Eremenko, Program Manager, discusses DARPA's efforts in space and the F6 and InSPIRE programs.
