Dr. Sean O'Brien
Program Manager
Bio:
Dr. O'Brien's area of interest is pure and applied computational social science.
Before joining DARPA, Dr. O'Brien served as a Senior Research Analyst with the U.S. Army's Center for Army Analysis where he developed tools and methodologies for monitoring and forecasting global crises in near-real time. For this work, Dr. O'Brien received several prestigious awards including the Wilbur B. Payne Award for Excellence and Analysis (Department of the U.S. Army) and the Richard H. Barchi Prize (Military Operations Research Society).
Dr. O'Brien received his BA (1992) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and his MA (1994) and PhD (1998) from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, all in political science. His research on terrorism, political violence, and crisis forecasting has been published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Political Research Quarterly, International Studies Review, Social Science Quarterly, and edited volumes.
