Timothy (Tim) J. Gibson, Ph.D.

Dr. Gibson joined DARPA in June 2003 as a Program Manager in the Strategic Technologies Office. Dr. Gibson's main interests lie in the areas of computer architecture and computer networks. His current networking programs focus on improving network performance, new transport and routing protocols, network security, and efficiently distributing content to deployed units.

Prior to joining DARPA, Dr. Gibson was an officer in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Colonel. He was an Infantry officer for several years before becoming a Computer Systems Engineering Officer, spending twenty years in that capacity.

Dr. Gibson holds a Bachelors Degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, and Masters degrees in both Computer Science and History from the University of Kansas. He completed his Doctorate in Computer Science at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He has published in IEEE Spectrum, Networks, Communications, and others.
