    Program Objective

DARPA’s AVM portfolio of programs seeks to revolutionize the design and build process for complex defense systems by compressing the development timelines at least five fold while increasing the nation’s pool of innovation by several factors of 10.

    Infantry Fighting Vehicle

FANG will be a new heavy, amphibious infantry fighting vehicle (IFV). It's functional requirements are intended to mirror those of the U.S. Marine Corps' Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV). The winning design, upon fabrication in the iFAB Foundry and test and evaluation by the Marine Corps, will be eligible for consideration as the go-forward design for the ACV program.

    Manufacturing Foundry

iFAB will lay the groundwork for the development of a foundry-style manufacturing capability—taking as input a verified system design specified in an appropriate metalanguage—capable of rapid reconfiguration to accommodate a wide range of design variability and specifically targeted at the fabrication of military ground vehicles.

    Design Competitions

FANG is series of three challenges, which are prize-based design competitions for progressively more complex vehicle subsystems. It will sequentially apply the AVM tools and processes to products of graduating level of complexity, culminating in the design of a full IFV.
