Lt Col Larry Gunn joined DARPA in July 2013 as a Program Manager in the Tactical Technology Office. He focuses on space system and technology development.
Prior to joining DARPA, Lt Col Gunn served as deputy chief of the Space Superiority Division within Headquarters Air Force Space Command. In this capacity, he managed the development of requirements, strategies, architectures, budgets and programs for the protection, defense, situational awareness and command and control of the U.S. strategic advantage in space. He also served as the Director of Operations for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) detachment at Cape Canaveral AFS (CCAFS), Fla., where he led a joint government/contractor team managing all the NRO satellite launch integration, processing and launch operations occurring at CCAFS.
Lt Col Gunn managed the integration of numerous NRO and Air Force missions flying on Delta IV, Atlas V and Titan IVB.His last mission was the NROL-20 mission, the last Titan IVB launch. Additionally, he supported the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) ground control developments.
Lt Col Gunn graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from Webster University and a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology while completing his Intermediate Development Education.
